Dr. Liz Saunders

About this Service
Although the approach that I use is primarily based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, I also utilise other techniques such as EMDR, problem-solving, assertiveness-training, social skills training, mindfulness and life coaching. I am also able to use my experience of couples therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy and family therapy as and when appropriate.
I work from three locations: Pulborough, Fittleworth and the Cowdray Estate Therapy rooms Midhurst. I do have some evening sessions available for people who are working during the day. I am currently working remotely due to Covid.

Qualifications
I am a medically qualified Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist working in the Pulborough, Fittleworth and Midhurst areas of West Sussex. I have many years experience of working with people of all ages with a wide range of emotional problems. I am fully accredited by the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists and I also help to train new therapists through my role as an examiner for the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at Canterbury Christchurch University. I find that my medical background is often particularly useful for clients with Health Anxiety and I have a specific interest in using CBT with couples who are having relationship problems. I also have a postgraduate qualification in teaching and have worked in University health services so enjoy using CBT techniques to help young people who are struggling emotionally with their academic and/or vocational work. Depending on the nature of the problem, I do see some children from the age of 12 onwards.
I also have experience of working with large organisations on developing stress management approaches in the workplace and have worked with the DWP on developing employability skills in people who have experienced emotional difficulties.
